WELCOME TO CENTRAL DISTRICT
It’s all in the name. Centrally located east of downtown, and connected to the bustling neighborhoods of Capitol Hill, Madison Valley & Madrona. Easy access to I-5, I-90, and Downtown make the Central District a very attractive and convenient place to live.
The Central District is considered one of the oldest surviving residential neighborhoods in the city. The area was first cleared for development in the mid-1800s. It was the ideal place to settle because of its close proximity to the business district. Trees were logged, cable cars were installed, and many homes and buildings were constructed that remain historical landmarks today.
Notable past residents include Jimi Hendrix, Quincy Jones, Rose McGowan & Sir Mix-a-lot.
Throughout its history, it has seen many changes in demographics and politics but is currently going through an unprecedented period of new construction, community improvement projects, and thriving small business districts.
Our favorite neighborhood spots are the Original Ezell’s Fried Chicken, Standard Brewing & the Seattle Fish Guys. If you’re going for coffee, check out Starbucks on 23rd and Jackson. This is THE most happening Starbucks, maybe in the world: There are hilarious and friendly baristas, swarms of middle schoolers, and people arguing about politics in many languages. Check out the art on the walls, scan the bulletin board for community events, open mics, and shows. Share a table with a stranger. It just might be an awe-inspiring art or literature legend.
Come home every day to the most historic & culturally rich community in Seattle. The Central District.
